For President

Washington's refusal to run for a third term elevated the two main factions of his administration to the forefront. With factional interest came the formation of political parties. Thomas Jefferson became the leader of the Agrarian decentralized government version of government while Alexander Hamilton, Washington's Secretary of the Treasury, led the merchant interests in advocating a more centralized vision of government.
